Places of Interest

frigilianajul2zThe old historical centre of Frigiliana, distinctively Moorish in appearance and design, is a labyrinth of narrow, winding streets and alleyways, a great place to wander aimlessly…or even with a purpose.

Three hundred metres above sea level and built on the side of a mountain, many of the streets are quite steep, or very steep in some cases, all adding to the charm and character of this picturesque little village.

Exploring these narrow streets you will often find small shops, bars and restaurants, almost hidden away but well worth discovering.

Stopping at regular intervals for a delicious ‘tapa’ is always to be recommended, just make sure everyone orders something different so you get to try a lot of different dishes.

The houses may all be whitewashed but there is an abundance of colour as, in common with many similar Moorish hilltop villages, colourful plants abound on window ledges, balconies, in windows, hanging baskets and on the streets themselves.
