Green light to water privatisation

Budget matters
The Council has set aside an amount of €63,000 in the municipal budget this year to help unemployment in the area by creating up to 14 jobs with a contract period of three months.
The Council has also approved the municipal budget for 2010, although the opposition PSOE and PP members abstained from voting. The budget is €3,942,121.72, an increase of 5% on 2009, and includes the following projects: More
Criticism of ‘monument’ status for Casa Rudofsky
The environmental group GENA-Ecologistas en Acción has criticised the decision by the Junta de Andalucia to register the house built by the architect Bernard Rudofsky as a ‘monument’ (BIC – Bien de Interés Cultural).
GENA argue that although the house is legal and was built with a partial plan and conforms to the requirement of being ‘urban friendly’, it is from the 1970′s and they doubt it has sufficient characteristics to be listed as a monument. They believe the building would be better classified as ‘notable’ rather than as a ‘monument’.
Day of the Cross

Welcome to spring
A total of nine groups are taking part in a music festival in Frigiliana on Sunday April 18th to officially welcome the start of spring. It kicks off at 11:00 and amongst those performing are: Daajari, La Vihen Santa, Locura Precoz, Sin Rencor, Not to Fall and others.
Escuela Infantil applications
The registration period for the Escuela Infantil (0 to 3 year olds) for the academic year 2010-2011 has started and the deadline for applications is April 30th.
The list of those accepted will be available between May 3rd and May 7th and then the actual registration period is from June 1st to June 10th inclusive.
Redevelopment of calle Rafael Alberti and calle Xorairán
The Málaga Provincial Council has approved redevelopment work on calle Rafael Alberti and calle Xorairán in Frigiliana.
The total cost of the project is €116,672 with Málaga Provincial Council providing 85% of the funds, the Junta de Andalucia 15% and Frigiliana Council 5%.
The execution period is six months and work will start as soon as the contract is awarded, probably next month.
